Purpose:
               
The Quality Tech is initially responsible for the final approval of product at the completion of the standard production process within the forging and EP areas. This process includes visual and dimensional inspection, documenting the result of the inspections, and providing feedback to all levels of management and engineering. After appropriate training, this position typically works on the floor closely with forging, casting, and EP personnel while providing guidance to team members.

General Duties:
  • Data recording and verification of the results of the following inspections:
    • First Piece Sheets
    • Trend Charts
    • Layer check sheets
    • Shift Reports
    • Gauge R&R
    • Homogenizer Temperature Levels
    • Heat Treat Error Reports
    • Florescent Penetrant Daily Inspection Check Sheet
    • Heat Treat Tensile Log
  • Proficient with metrology tools such as calipers, digital indicators, micrometers, conductivity meters, refractometer and profilometer.
  • Ability to learn and memorize all QAD parts by name, number, customer and alloy.
  • Must be aware and adhere to any active quality alerts or customer requirements.
  • Must be familiar with Forging and EP processes and operating procedures to ensure SOP’s and work instructions are being followed.
  • Must be able to perform master curves using spectrometry equipment.
  • Must be able to perform and record data obtained from Etch Rate testing.
  • Ability to perform hardness testing with Brinell hardness equipment for SB.
  • Must be able to pass white light and black light certification (180 Hours of training).
  • Provide feedback of the inspection results to all levels of management.
  • Ability to problem solve with limited supervision and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Follow all department safety rules and regulations including facility PPE requirements.
  • Organizing and maintaining parts awaiting 3rd party sort by QAD number.
  • Proficient in QAD Systems to locate, transfer, make labels and ensure all product is in designated locations.
  • Must have ability to read and understand scrap codes and use PuTTY to transfer parts to and from hold locations.
  • Gaging of parts throughout plant floor
  • Microsoft compatible to email and excel reports as needed

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Prior experience working in a multi-cultural company a bonus.
  • Experience in automotive sector is preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive components and terminology preferred.
  • Physical requirements include walking, standing, bending, lifting and carrying product weighing less than 20 pounds
