Position Summary:
The EHS Training Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, delivering, and maintaining all environmental, health and safety training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role partners with leadership, EHS teams, and employees to build a strong safety culture through effective training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver EHS training programs tailored to automotive manufacturing processes, including:
• Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify job-specific hazards and implement targeted training.
• Support safe launch activities for new equipment, production lines, and model changes by ensuring proper training and risk mitigation.
• Perform training needs assessments based on incident trends, audits, and operational changes.
• Deliver training in multiple formats (classroom, on-the-floor demonstrations, hands-on simulations).
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 (if applicable) standards.
• Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation for audits and customer requirements (e.g., OEM expectations).
• Evaluate training effectiveness through observations, audits, quizzes, and incident reduction metrics.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement corrective training actions.
• Support internal and external audits (corporate, regulatory, and customer audits).
• Develop visual job aids, standard work instructions, and safety training materials specific to KAAP operations.
• Reinforce safety culture through daily engagement, toolbox talks, and floor presence.

- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Machine guarding and robotics safety
- Powered industrial trucks (forklift certification)
- Fall Protection/Prevention
- Hazard communication (Hazard Communication/GHS)
- Confined space entry
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Environmental compliance (waste handling, spills, air emissions)

Other duties:
- Will perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
- Maintain the various database programs associated with EHS training programs.
- Requires occasional physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of regulations:
- OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and local safety laws.
- Training knowledge:
- Instructional design, adult learning principles, and e-learning platforms.
Communication skills:
- Ability to deliver technical content clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic English.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Analytical skills:
- Use metrics to measure training effectiveness and compliance gaps.
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or a related field and 2 or more years of safety engineering and/or Continual Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Willing to obtain OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer or similar Train-the-Trainer certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction training environments.
