Job Title:              Forging Die Prep Shift Lead

Purpose:
This position is responsible for ensuring SOP is being followed at all times by die setters and die cleaners.  The shift lead will ensure that all dies are inspected thoroughly.  In addition, compliance with the operating schedules must be maintained as this is critical to meeting customer demands.
General Duties:
  • Ensure all safety regulations are being followed at all times by die prep team members. Promotes safety always comes first.                                                                         
  • Responsible for staging dies per schedule and according to SOP.
  • Identifying new opportunities to improve die prep process.         
  • Identifying and assembling key team members for projects.        
  • Determines performance of die setters and die quality and has direct accountability for that performance.                                                                                                                                                                               
  • Input with product development.            
  • Identifying new opportunities to impact business and operations goals positively               
  • Ensure that the training of new hires/transfers to die prep is being properly done per SOP and following all safety regulations and KAAP rules.                                          
  • Verify cleanliness of die holders after change overs. (Clamps, bolts, lifter plates, T-nuts, BKO blow holes)
  • Motivate employees to be the best they can be for KAAP.            
  • Assign work according to designated priorities in order to maintain press schedule.          
  • Maintain good working relationships with fellow shift leads, foreman, tooling team members, and inspection personnel.         
  • Promotes, maintains, and enforces safe and healthy working conditions for all employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Prepare and ensure that daily press forging check sheets are correct per controlled documents and ready for die setters and production.                                                                         
  • Ensure all die prep SOP's are followed and not deviated from.    
  • Other duties as assigned by the die prep foreman / Forging Supervisor.
Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, SOP's, and schedules.                                                                                                                                                                     
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills such as, Outlook for emails, computer drives for forging check sheets and controlled documents.          
Requirements:
  • Experience within die prep preferred or related die experience
  • Manufacturing shop floor experience required
